From the editor...
So,
with possibly a sigh of relief,
Sensor100
held its first conference
in March -
Sensors in Medicine 2013
. Based on delegate feedback, it
was a significant success. Our tentative experiment in mixing leading
academics with business leaders seems to have been much appreci-
ated by both sides of the fence.
We heard some fascinating presentations including the use of sen-
sors in brain surgery, how genes interact with each other, and a knit-
ted sensor. More on the program inside.
There was reception in theWellcome Collection Medicine Now
Gallery which gave everybody an opportu-
nity to network and incidentally consume
liberal quantities of gin and other appropri-
ate beverages. Delegates commented on the
accessibility of speakers at the conference,
in marked contrast to the very large trade
shows where it is possible to be lost in the
crowd.
By popular request, as music halls used to say, there will be a Sensors
in Medicine 2014. It will be larger and better, some current themes
being revisited and some new ones. Overwhelming support for it
being in London, in the early Spring of 2014, date still to be finalised.
Happy Easter to everyone.
Kind regards
Michael
