Longitude Prize
If you read the article on the Longitude Prize in the “The LastWord” in Sen-
sor100 May issue, voting for the Prize closed and the winning category was
announced on 25 June
and the winner is...Antibiotics
Antibiotics was voted by [the public] to be the challenge of the
Longitude Prize 2014.
In order to tackle growing levels of antimicrobial resist-
ance, the challenge set for the Longitude Prize is to
cre-
ate a cost-effective, accurate, rapid and easy-to-
use test for bacterial infections
that will allow health
professionals worldwide to administer the right antibiotics
at the right time.
Amateur and professional scientists are invited to submit ideas to
solve the Antibiotic Challenge, and win the £10 million Prize. Submis-
sion of ideas will open in the Autumn (Fall) but in the meantime, you
