Moving News in the Biosensor Research Field
Antje Baeumner, Professor in the
Dept. of Biological and Environ-
mental Engineering at Cornell
University in Ithaca, NY, USA, just
accepted the offer from the Uni-
versity of Regensburg, Germany
to become the Chair and Direc-
tor of the Institute of Analytical
Chemistry, Bio- and Chemosen-
sors, which was formerly held
by Prof. OttoWolfbeis. Prof. Baeumner will bring her expertise in the
development of microfluidic biosensors, microTAS, and point-of-care
devices for the detection of pathogenic organisms and toxins and
the new field of nanofiber-based biosensors to this world-renowned
institute.The Institute and the new Consortium of Bioanalytical Chem-
istry at the University of Regensburg will leverage her experience as a
faculty member at one of the best US universities to continue to ex-
pand their international leadership in bioanalytical chemistry research
development and education.
